How to find out for sure
- Find the company’s number on your bill, your card, or your account statement.
- Do not use any phone number or link from the message. Scammers put their own number there.
- Call and ask if they sent it. This takes about two minutes.
Why we are not sure
- Your email program dropped the real sender when you forwarded this, so we could not check who sent it. We looked at the message itself instead.
- A stranger is writing as if they know you. Real contacts do not reach out this way.
- It asks you to wire money. Wired money cannot be brought back.
You can take your time. Waiting a day costs you nothing. If it is real, it will still be there tomorrow.
